Wrap Up: Girl’s Varsity Tennis

The 2017 season of girl’s tennis was one of the most successful seasons because of their new players and great coach, who led the team to play well this season. The team had 3 victories this season, which is pretty good compared to previous years at Ross. Basically, the Cosmos won three matches out of fourteen games. Moreover, it was a pretty competitive league(league 8), so it is a big achievement for our girls. First game of the season was against Greenport, which was unsuccessful for us because we lost 1-6. Natalie Kopala from Greenport was able to defeat Cristina Stivala at first singles, which had a really big impact on the whole game. The next game was away at Shoreham-Wading River where the Cosmos had a complete disappointment - the final score was 0-7. However, the next home game against Hampton Bays ended up with a victory for the Ross Cosmos with a final score of 6-1. The next victory was on 09girls worked really hard together and they had a very mature coach, Kevin Snyder, who had a very good advices for his players. By the end of the season, Kevin Snyder was nominating players for the sports awards. However, /25/2017 against Center Moriches(5-2) and on 10/03/2017 against Hampton Bays(4-3). The game against Hampton Bays was the last in the season and it was a great end of the season for the girls. The Kevin nominated only those who really deserved it. Most improved player was Caroline Breitweiser ’19. Caroline has been a hardworking player on the team and she learned the most overall. The next nomination was for the coach’s award and Kevin decided to honor Jenna Kestan ’19. Jenna Kestan is a player who also works really hard, participates in every game, and is just very easy to coach. Finally, the last nomination was for the most valuable player and Christina Stilava ’19 was the one who received this award. Christina Stilava was the most outstanding player, as she was the one who earned a lot of points for the team. In addition to that, she was a great leader and friend for the girls this season. Ross School is looking ahead to more victories next year.
