Volleyball is a really big part of her life and she was inspired to play and teach by her coach in college. After graduating her college in May of 2016, Kelsey McCulley decided to coach at Ross School. ‘’I had taken the proper courses to become a certified coach, but when I was offered the position to coach the junior varsity girls volleyball team at Ross, that is when I realized I could actually put forth the knowledge I had acquired and teach young girls the sport I love,’’ said McCulley. The most difficult part of coaching for her is seeing that not every player on her team wants to improve her skills. McCulley’s main plan for the season was to be able to win at least one game and make sure that her players had fun during the season. ‘’I was also hoping to increase the passion that some of these girls have for the sport of volleyball. Helping them understand the logic and technique about the sport,’’ said McCulley. In order to improve next season, Kelsey is planning to focus on conditioning and skill. The 2017-18 season of girls’ JV volleyball had more wins than they had in the last 5 years.
